9-11-1683 and then 9-11-2001: What Next?

While most Americans consider the events on 9-11-2001 to be extremely tragic, most do not realize the significance of the September 11th date. Many considered the events of that day to be isolated acts of terror and that the date itself was randomly chosen. That date, however, has great meaning relative to Islam’s imperialist aspirations.

The formal crusades ended in the 13th century AD without totally achieving Christianity’s goals of stopping Islam’s fundamental objective of world domination. Islam continued its global encroachment during the next several hundred years as the Ottoman Turks set their sights on Western Europe. They considered the city of Vienna to be the key to accomplish this goal. The Turks had failed previously to take Vienna in 1529. They made a second attempt in 1683. The siege began in July 1683 with a Viennese garrison of only 11,000 soldiers and 5,000 citizen volunteers to ward off a Turkish army numbering 140,000. However, several European nations rallied to the cause and the Polish King Jan Sobieski arrived with a force of 40,000 Polish, German, and Austrian soldiers. With brilliant military tactics the European army overwhelmingly defeated the Ottoman Turks. The defeat was very humiliating for the much larger Turkish force. The European army arrived to save Vienna and Western Europe on September 11, 1683 and this became known as the date that Islamic imperialism was halted.

This historical event clearly defined a turning point in the Islamic agenda to overtake the world as the Ottoman Empire was resoundingly defeated.

Therefore, history indicates that the events of 9-11-2001 signaled the resurgence of the Islamic goal of prevailing over all other nations and ideologies. Osama bin laden was well aware of the historical significance of the humiliating defeat of the Ottoman Turks at Vienna on 9-11-1683 so on 9-11-2001 he made known his intention to resume the battle.

Islam’s present position and goals can be gleaned from recent remarks made by Muslim leaders. They consider Israel and all those who espouse western culture to be enemies of Islam. Consider the following quotes:

1) “The Zionist regime is counterfeit and illegitimate and cannot survive.
The big powers i.e., America, England, and their accomplices have
created this fraud regime and allowed it to commit all kind of crimes
to guarantee their interests.” Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, Iranian
president

2) “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate
it; just as it obliterated others before it…There is no other solution for
the Palestinian problem other than jihad. All the initiatives and
international conferences are a waste of time and a futile game.” The
charter of Hamas

3) “The Jews can be described as grandsons of apes and pigs, and as Allah’s most cowardly and greedy creatures.” Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezbollah

However, the Bible records a substantially different account of the future for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people.

“Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them; indeed I will be their God, and they shall be My people. The nations also will know that I, the LORD, sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.” Ezekiel 37:26-28

Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, the ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, who disturbs the sea, and its waves roar...“If those ordinances depart from before Me, says the LORD, then the seed of Israel shall also cease from being a nation before Me forever…If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel…” Jeremiah 31:35-37

Thus the stage is being set for the final showdown between Islam’s Allah and the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. There is a vast difference between Islam’s goal and what the Bible has to say about the future of Israel. Both can’t be right.

Comparing Islam with Christianity

Not only is Islam the largest religion in the world, it encompasses so much more than just religious precepts. Therefore its guiding literature includes much more than the Koran. Islamic literature includes a complete set of guidelines for civil governance as well. These guidelines are termed the Hadis, or Hadith. In the present context we’ll limit our comparison to the Islamic religious creed which is divided into six articles, or Kalimas. These six articles are described and defined in the Koran. We will examine the highlights of these articles and outline the Islamic interpretation and then compare what the Bible states relative to these same articles.

However, even before we begin the comparison it should be remembered that Islam was founded in the 7th century AD. The Koran was, therefore, compiled subsequent to that time period. Islam and the Koran began with the basic tenants of Christianity and Judaism as recorded in the Bible. These tenants were then changed and/or added to by Mohammed to conform to his vision for a “new and improved” religion. While the Koran was compiled over a 23 year period of Mohammed’s life, the Bible by contrast was compiled over many centuries and was completed by the end of the 1st century AD. The Bible contains several succinct statements relative to its authenticity and finality.

“…You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it…”
Deuteronomy 4:2

“Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.” Deuteronomy 12:32

“Every word of God is pure…Do not add to His words…”
Proverbs 30:5-6

For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life…
Revelation 22:18-19

The first religious article, or Kalima, in the Koran is the belief in God. Islam portrays their god, Allah, as a singular god that has no offspring. Consider the following passages from the Koran:

“In blasphemy indeed are those that say that God is Christ the son of Mary.”
Surah 5:17

“They said, ‘The Most Gracious has begotten a son’! You have uttered a gross blasphemy. The heavens are about to shatter, the earth is about to tear asunder, and the mountains are about to crumble. Because they claim that the Most Gracious has begotten a son. It is not befitting the Most Gracious that He should beget a son.” Surah 19:88-92

“The Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth…they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah’s curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the truth!” Surah 9:30

The above passages from the Koran adamantly deny the plurality of the Godhead and specifically the deity of Christ.

For the Christian, however, the plurality of the Godhead is one of their foundational doctrines and is proclaimed in numerous biblical passages beginning in the first chapter of Genesis.

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over…all the earth…” Genesis 1:26

The Hebrew word for God in this passage is Elohim which is a plural noun which is then followed by several plural pronouns, i.e. Us and Our.

There are numerous passages in the New Testament also that attest to the plurality of the Godhead. Consider I John 4:13-14.

By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.

The deity of Christ, denied in the Koran, is clearly presented in the New Testament as well. Consider John 1:1 and 1:14.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we behold His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father…

In the New Testament we refer to the Greek language for understanding. The Greek base for “Word” is logos which is defined as a thought or concept and the expression or utterance of that thought. That thought or concept in this passage is Christ who is not only the begotten of the Father but is in fact the visible expression of the Father.

Thus it can be seen that the very first article of Islam’s religious creed differs drastically with the Biblical account of the doctrine of God. While the Koran denies the plurality of the Godhead and the deity of Christ, Christianity and the Bible are built on these basic precepts.

A person’s choice of religion should be a free and personal decision. Any person with an open mind can examine the literature and history surrounding a religion and make their own rational choice. Under no conditions should any religion be “forced” on an individual.

Politically Correct vs. Biblically Correct

It has been said by many that America is great because of its diversity. Just as many have said, however, that America is great in spite of its diversity. Typically associated with diversity is tolerance of the various cultures and religions associated with such diversity. That brings us to another threat to America’s freedom, i.e. political correctness.

Political correctness has about as many meanings and perceived meanings as there are people in the population. The general consensus is, however, that political correctness places emotions ahead of objectivity. The general opinion is that free speech has its limits if it might offend someone else. A great example of political correctness is when President Bush in a recent state of the union address proclaimed that Islam is a religion of peace. Such statements actually refute Islamic literature.

The Bible is certainly not silent on the subject of political correctness. The Bible is in fact very explicit concerning tolerance and building coalitions or entering treaties with other entities if God’s word and instructions are compromised. When the Israelites returned from Egypt and were about to enter the land of Canaan God gave specific instructions concerning the people that were presently occupying the land.

When the LORD your God brings you into the land which you go to posses, and has cast out many nations before you…you shall make no covenant (treaty) with them nor show mercy to them. Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to their son, nor take their daughter for your son. For they will turn your sons away from following Me, to serve other gods…But thus you shall deal with them: you shall destroy their altars, and break down their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images, and burn their carved images with fire. For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. Deuteronomy 7:1-6

Though this passage is very succinct, let’s stress the high points. Firstly, God instructed the Israelites not to make any treaties with the people in the land of Canaan which was to be the home for the nation of Israel. God then instructed the Israelites not to let their children intermarry. The reason for these instructions was to insure that the Israelites would not be influenced by false religions or idolatry. The Israelites were further instructed to destroy anything that pertained to the false gods of any of the people that were presently living in the land of Canaan. There is not much in this passage that suggests tolerance of other religions, let alone acceptance of those religions.

Consider another example. After the fall of Judah and upon returning to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple after spending 70 year captivity in Babylon (present Iraq) in approximately 538 BC some non Jewish residents of the land, who didn’t want the Jews to regain status again in Israel, made an insincere offer to help with the project.

…they said to them (the Jews who undertook the rebuilding project) “Let us build with you, for we seek your God as you do…” but the leaders of Israel said to them, “You may do nothing wit us to build a house for our God; but we alone will build to the LORD God of Israel…” Ezra 4:2-3

Again there is no tolerance in this passage. The non Jews were told in no uncertain terms that they had absolutely nothing in common with the Jews and their assistance was not welcome or needed.

For those who would say that these Old Testament passages are irrelevant today, we refer to I Corinthians chapter 10 where some Jewish history is recounted and followed with this statement:

Now all these things happened to them (Old Testament Jews) as examples, and they were written for our admonition… I Corinthians 10:11

Therefore, the Bible does not teach tolerance and acceptance of ideologies contrary to what God has established. Inasmuch as this great nation was founded on Christian principles it is believed by many that we should not feel obligated to accommodate, assimilate, or even tolerate ideologies contrary to those principles; especially ideologies held by those who seek to destroy us.

Some secular progressives, however, have become so politically correct that much legislation has been enacted for the protection of individual “rights” of free expression that is contrary to Biblical teachings. Political correctness is not a virtue.

Bible believer, on the other hand, believe that the One whose laws are being violated will be the final Judge of such matters.

Recognizing Freedom’s Threats

There are many issues that presently pose threats to our freedoms. One of the most pressing of these issues is apathy. Webster defines apathy as having little or no interest or concern. Synonyms for apathy would include impassiveness or indifference. When indifference towards an ideal or concept prevails, such indifference may lead to the abandonment of that ideal or concept. Abandonment of an ideal or concept defines apostasy; therefore, apathy leads to apostasy.

Interestingly the Bible describes the general condition of the “church” as apathetic in this, the present dispensation on the universal time span. Christ’s words which address this issue are as follows:

“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold or hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked…” Revelation 3:15-17

What a seething indictment of the church! Those who will not take a stand are described as wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. Those described as lukewarm live under the delusion that they are well off when in fact they have nothing. Apathy in the church will lead to apostasy in the church during the closing of this period, i.e. indifference to the basic precepts of Christianity will lead to the abandonment of those precepts during this time period. This approaching phenomenon is described in the following passage.

But know this, that in the last days (of which we are in) perilous times will come: for men…having a form of godliness but denying its power…And from such turn away! II Timothy 3:1-5

The above passage describes those who are only lukewarm to Biblical truths and that during these approaching days will abandon that which they once claimed to espouse. There is also a warning included in this passage, i.e. do not be a part of such activity.

When people are willing to abandon an ideology for lack of passion and commitment they leave the door open to replace that ideology with something else.

For example, it is an established fact that Islam is now the largest religion in the world. It is an additional fact that many Americans adopted Islam shortly after 9-11. It is also a well documented fact that the primary objective of Islam is to prevail over the whole world. Now we can begin connecting the dots. Remember apathy leads to apostasy which opens the door to replacement.

What percent of Americans do you think are aware of such organizations as CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) and OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference)? Then it stands to reason that even a smaller percent of Americans know what the agendas of these organizations are.

Front Page magazine recently published an article on OIC which contained the following quote:

“Therefore, OIC’s comment that Islamophobia jeopardizes global peace and security was not an expression of fear of Islamophobia. Rather, it was a warning that anyone who claims Islam is not a religion of peace might have violence perpetrated against him. It’s ironic that countries which follow an interpretation of Islam that disallows religious freedom or freedom of speech at home, are utilizing these very freedoms abroad to achieve their Islamist goals. By turning the definition of freedom on its head, free speech and religious freedom for non-Muslims can now be condemned as anti-Islamic.”

It should be noted that the above quote does not describe the agenda of some local so-called radical organization; it is rather the guts of a recent resolution passed by the United Nations Human Rights Commission.

Now let’s connect some more dots:

Apathy, or indifference, leads to apostasy, or abandonment, which opens the door to replacement which will lead to loss of freedoms. We need to be passionately aware of our freedoms as well as be aware of the foundations on which they stand. The threats to our freedoms are very real and present. We need to cherish and defend these freedoms instead of giving them away.

Searching for the Truth

What is truth? Webster defines truth as that which is based on facts; i.e. a position taken after the examination and assessment of evidence. If we always had access to the truth about a matter it would be much easier to plan ahead, however, the truth may be very elusive.

Let’s consider three levels of truth-seeking. The first level will illustrate the difficulty of determining the truth when no precedent or historical evidence exists. The second level will illustrate the determination of the truth when some evidence exists to assist in the decision, and the third level will illustrate the relative ease in determining the truth when history has provided well documented factual evidence on which to base an assessment.

To examine the first level of truth-seeking the question can be asked, is it true that the $1 trillion stimulus plan being considered will cause the economy to recover or will it further suppress the workings of a free market? This question cannot be answered objectively because it deals with the unknown and there are no historical facts available to support such a decision either way. In other words the truth cannot be determined as to whether or not the stimulus plan will do as predicted.

Now let’s examine the second level of truth-seeking by considering the future weather patterns of the earth. A relevant question can be asked, is it true that we are in for a period of global warming? Many, if not most, pundits and political scientists are sounding the alarm that the sky is falling and the world is in for an extended period of global warming. If their prognosis is correct then we had better prepare accordingly. This is a case where there is a moderate amount of scientific evidence available to allow the truth to be determined.

Let’s consider the documented evidence. Firstly, the four reporting agencies that measure the earth’s temperature reported that the earth cooled by nearly .75C in 2007 and a similar result is expected for 2008. It is a fact that the average temperature on earth has remained steady or has slowly declined during the past decade. Consider further that Antarctic sea ice grew substantially in 2007 as did Alaskan glaciers, and finally, sunspot activity associated with earth’s temperature as reported by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory indicates an approaching period of global cooling. And if that weren’t enough evidence, even the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts that we are in for a period of global cooling based on solar activity which could take us into the next half century. In this case the truth can be established relatively easy based on evidence, however, the truth may upset many alarmists who have profited by touting global warming.

The third level of truth-seeking takes us into the religious realm. This is an area in which mankind has sought the “truth” throughout the millennia. Many believe that religion is based on faith in that which cannot be proved by observation. At this level we’ll seek the truth by examining one Biblical passages and also one passage from Islamic literature and then each person can determine for themselves what is the “truth” based on their assessment of the evidence.

But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die. And if you say in your heart, how shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken” – when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. Deuteronomy 18:20-22

The above passage tells that if a prophet speaks in the LORD’s name and what he prophesizes comes to pass then he is in fact a true prophet and if it doesn’t come to pass then he is a false prophet. Literally hundreds of prophesies relating to the people of Israel and the birth of Jesus came to pass exactly as predicted many centuries before the event.

Similarly, from Islamic literature:

“Once the Prophet Mohammed led us in the Isha prayer during the last days of his life and after finishing it he said, ‘Do you realize the importance of this night? Nobody present on the surface of the earth tonight will be living after the completion of one hundred years from this night.’”

Mohammed died in 632 AD and the world’s population continues to grow. Based then on the evidence, the question can then be asked, i.e. is it true that Mohammed fits the description of a prophet of God?

One wonderful aspect of living in America is that everyone has the right to examine the available evidence and determine for themselves what the “truth” is as they perceive it and pursue life accordingly.
